Bacteriostatic water in Bangkok: the one thing nobody tells you about peptide research
April 2026 · 5 min read · Bangkok Peptide Center
You found the peptides. Now what do you reconstitute them with?
You’ve done the research. You know which peptides you want to study. You’ve found a local supplier in Bangkok with verified purity. Then someone mentions bacteriostatic water and suddenly you’re searching every pharmacy in Sukhumvit trying to figure out where to get it.
This is one of the most common friction points for peptide researchers in Bangkok. Peptide vials arrive as lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder. Before you can use them, you need to add water. But not just any water — the wrong water will either degrade your peptide within hours or introduce contamination. Bacteriostatic water is what you need, and finding it in Thailand is surprisingly difficult.
This guide explains exactly what bacteriostatic water is, why it matters, and how to get it in Bangkok.
Bacteriostatic water vs sterile water: what’s actually the difference?
Both are sterile, injectable-grade waters. The difference is one ingredient: benzyl alcohol.
Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which is a preservative that prevents bacterial growth. This means once you reconstitute your peptide vial, it stays stable in the fridge for up to 4-6 weeks. You can draw multiple doses from the same vial over time without worrying about contamination.
Sterile water contains no preservative. It works fine for reconstitution, but once you add it to your peptide vial, you’re on the clock. The reconstituted solution needs to be used within 24 hours or discarded. For multi-dose research protocols, sterile water is completely impractical.
| Type | Preservative | Shelf life after reconstitution | Use case |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bacteriostatic water | 0.9% benzyl alcohol | 4-6 weeks refrigerated | Multi-dose research protocols |
| Sterile water | None | 24 hours maximum | Single-use only |
For almost all peptide research — BPC-157, TB-500, Retatrutide, GHK-Cu, NAD+, and the rest — bacteriostatic water is the correct choice.
Using sterile water instead of bacteriostatic water doesn’t ruin your peptide. It ruins your research protocol. Every vial becomes single-use and every reconstituted dose has a 24-hour expiry.
Why bacteriostatic water is so hard to find in Thailand
In the US or Europe, bacteriostatic water is available from most compounding pharmacies and many online suppliers. In Thailand, it’s a different story.
Thai pharmacies stock sterile water for injection (you’ll see it from A.N.B. Laboratories and other local manufacturers) but bacteriostatic water with benzyl alcohol is not widely available over the counter. Most pharmacies have never heard of it. Hospital supply companies carry it for clinical use but typically don’t sell to individuals. Import options exist but ordering from overseas means customs uncertainty and 2-3 week waits.
This gap in the Bangkok market is exactly why Bangkok Peptide Center includes bacteriostatic water free with every order. Every peptide vial we send comes with the right water to reconstitute it. You don’t need to source it separately.
How to reconstitute peptides correctly
Once you have your bacteriostatic water, reconstitution is straightforward. Draw the water into a syringe, inject it slowly down the side of the vial (not directly onto the powder), and let it dissolve gently without shaking. Never vortex or shake a peptide vial — this degrades the compound. Swirl gently if needed.
For accurate dosing, use our peptide calculator to work out exactly how much bacteriostatic water to add and what volume to draw for your desired dose. Store the reconstituted vial in the fridge, away from light. Use within 4-6 weeks.
Every Bangkok Peptide Center order includes bacteriostatic water free
We include bacteriostatic water and needles with every single order at no extra charge. It’s not an add-on, it’s not optional — it comes with everything. We do this because we know how difficult it is to source in Bangkok and because arriving without the right water defeats the purpose of ordering in the first place.
Same-day delivery across Bangkok for orders placed before 2pm. All peptides third-party tested at 99%+ purity with Certificate of Analysis available on request. The peptides we sell are not controlled substances in Thailand — they are unscheduled research compounds, totally legal to buy and own.
